Creative Roots
Raised in a family of artists and entrepreneurs, Michael has always been drawn to great photography. As a youth, he pored over the pages of The New York Times Magazine, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar and spent wintry days in New York in art classes and at the library, immersing himself in the photography of Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Annie Leibovitz and William Helburn. He took some of his earliest photos at 10 years old while on a family trip to Disney World, using his Mom’s Kodak Instamatic camera, and has been making pictures ever since.
Creative Career
Michael started his photography career as a newspaper and sports photojournalist, has exhibited his work in shows and galleries and had his photographs published in magazines worldwide. Prior to becoming a full time photographer, his other creative love, music, led him to gigs as a radio announcer, music journalist and publishing executive. He founded Michael Verity Photography in 2008 to pursue his passion for creating beautiful and authentic headshots, modeling portfolios and fashion editorial for kids, teens and adults.
Today Michael Verity Photography has grown into a family business with a team that includes his wife, Claire, an acting coach and fashion editor; his daughter, Carson, an actor and wardrobe stylist; and his son, Skyler, an actor, musician and cinematographer; along with a network of top professionals in Portland and Vancouver.
Headquarters is a studio on 12 acres in the beautiful Pacific Northwest that Michael shares with his wife; his three dogs, Willy, Snowy and Cleo; and a blue-eyed ragdoll cat named Ocean.
